Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Chiropractic Neurologist?

Chiropractic Neurologists are highly trained, qualified chiropractors who have completed advanced, post-graduate training for the treatment of the brain, spine, and nervous system. As in medicine, the chiropractic profession has specialists who serve their community’s patients, as well as providing expert evaluations and consultation to other physicians and health care practitioners.

Our providers' specialized training is unique to Southern Oregon and benefits patients with a range of conditions including: Autism, ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, vertigo, OCD, anxiety, depression, addiction, Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, tics, tremors and other movement disorders.

How Does Chiropractic Neurology Differ From Conventional Neurology?

The conventional neurological approach involves the interpretation of data on a strict black and white scale. This system of analysis leaves anyone in the gray area without a diagnosis and a well structured treatment plan. These individuals often know that something is not right which causes them to seek multiple opinions but they recieve no resolution of their symptoms.

The chiropractic neurological approach differs in that it interprets dysfunction on a functional continuum, recognizing those individuals left in the grey area. Chiropractic neurologists do not prescribe drugs nor do they perform surgery. Chiropractic neurologists are most often directly involved in performing and overseeing rehabilitation and treatment which is a clear distinction from medical neurology, which usually involves a more hands-off approach.

What Makes A Chiropractic Neurologist So Effective?

Because chiropractic neurologists often have great success treating patients for whom all other treatment methods have failed, people often ask, “What makes a chiropractic neurologist so special?” The distinguishing factor is the paradigm or approach that a chiropractic neurologist uses toward diagnosis and treatment. In addition to evaluating for pathologies as medical doctors do; a chiropractic neurologist evaluates for subtle changes in the function of the nervous system. It is this expertise in detecting subtle changes in function that sets a chiropractic neurologist apart from other specialists.

What is a Systematic Treatment Methodology?

Our providers use a systematic approach to determine the cause(s) of your symptoms. Unlike a problem-focused approach which aims to resolve a symptom (i.e. statins prescribed for high cholesterol), we strive to identify and treat all factors that are contributing to the issue (i.e. diet, exercise, food sensitivities, sleep, stress, family history). We evaluate your entire body until we discover the root cause of your ailment.

Many of our patients are discouraged when they arrive because scores of other providers have been unable to find a cause or provide a solution. Typically they leave wishing they had visited our office earlier. Our goal is to solve the puzzle of why you do not feel well. Using Chiropractic Neurology, Functional Blood Chemistry, Functional Endocrinology, and gentle chiropractic adjustments using the Arthrostim and Vibracussor, your assessment and treatment are individualized to your needs.

What Are The Costs?

We strive to make all of the services we provide affordable and all payment is due in full at the time of service.

The New Patient Examination is comprehensive, so it takes longer than regular treatment visits. This initial exam lasts up to one hour and is required to establish you as a patient.  New patients are offered a discounted rate for the initial exam, call for pricing and to schedule an appointment.

Once you are established as a patient, we offer appointments in time increments: 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, etc. We bill according to time, not by the services provided. We strive to meet all of your needs during your scheduled time, however, certain visits may require more time depending on the condition. If your appointment goes longer than scheduled you will be billed accordingly.

Do You Take My Insurance?

We currently DO NOT participate as in-network providers with ANY health insurance carriers. We have found, after many years of experience, that this is the simplest and least frustrating approach for our patients. This means that your payment is due at the time of service. Please check with your insurance carrier to determine your out-of-network Chiropractic Benefits.

In most cases, we can then provide you with detailed documentation of your visit in the form of a “Super-bill” which can be submitted to your insurance carrier to be applied and reimbursed according to your plan benefits. We do bill most auto insurances for Motor Vehicle Accidents.

Do You Treat Children?

Yes. In fact, it’s just as important or even more important for a child to have a correctly aligned and properly functioning spine as they develop. This will ensure that the child does not develop any scoliotic curvatures and that their neurology is functioning optimally.

What Is Included In A New Patient Exam?

Your first visit will begin with a review of your medical history and a physical/neurological exam lasting approximately one hour. Following this exam, our provider will explain the results and discuss a treatment plan that best suits your situation.

What Treatment Methods Do Chiropractic Neurologists use?

Chiropractic neurology treatment methods are safe, effective and can include a wide variety of tools such as:

  • Chiropractic adjustments by hand or by instrument to the spine and/or extremities
  • Eye exercises
  • Balance and coordination activities
  • Cognitive exercises and activities
  • Sensory training
  • Physical exercises
  • Breathing exercises
  • Nutritional modification
  • And many others
What If I Have A Unique Condition?

Most conditions respond very favorably to chiropractic neurological treatment due to the fact that the focus is not placed on a diagnosis but on the neurological and physiological dysfunction. Every condition we treat is a unique condition in that every patient’s physiology is different. We take pride in our ability to treat disorders that are unusual and difficult to diagnose.

Can Chiropractic Neurology Help With Sports Injuries?

Yes! Different neurological techniques can be utilized to increase or decrease muscle tone in certain joints, reset musculoskeletal firing patterns, increase stability of the joint in question, and increase the communication between the brain and the body. The result is decreased healing time and a quick transition back to the sport of choice.

  • Ozone Therapy - the use of medical-grade ozone, a highly reactive form of pure oxygen, to create a curative response in the body.
